Our first earthquake!

Tuesday night Dallin had a talent show at the elementary school. So we went as a family and watched his class perform a couple of songs. Then as a special treat we all went to McDonalds.

While we were there we experienced our first California earthquake! The crazy part is that the center of the quake was only 2 miles from where we were! It was a 3.9 on the richter scale. But the part I will always remember about experiencing my first earthquake....I was sitting on the toilet in the men's bathroom when, "BOOM" and I thought, "What in the ...." Ahh...how many people can say they were sitting on the john when they felt their first earthquake?

We've been through three...two of which you were part of. Obviously they are not nearly as memorable as the one on the john! Our first was during church and resulted in a power outage. The kids were hoping to get out early, but the outage lasted only a few seconds. The second was on a Sunday evening when all the children were in bed but not yet asleep. Dad was at high council meeting and I was enjoying a bit of quiet time reading a book. I really don't think any of you kids felt it as not one of the little restless bodies asked what that was. It was just enough to make my stomach a bit queasy and it was over.

For the last one, I was sitting at our kitchen counter with either Tamarie or Devin. I wonder if either of them can remember it? It was just a pretty good jiggle.

Brent, I'm not sure which is more alarming...that you experienced an earthquake, or that you considered a trip to McDonald's a "special treat." We need to get you back to Texas QUICK!

In any case, you are to be commended for your bravery by being willing to sit on a McDonald's toilet seat. I'm glad that it wasn't a more serious earthquake.

haha, are you sure it wasn't some other type of "rumble?"
