Father's and Son's Camp - Lake Solano - May 11-12, 2012
I have to admit, the last few years I have not been all that excited about the annual Father's and Son's camp we do with the church. I think the main reason is the destination hasn't been much to look forward to. We've always gone to this park area near Napa but there just isn't much to it other than an old abandoned hospital (or something) that the boys aren't supposed to go near anyway. So my buddy Daniel and I decided to lobby for a new location this year - at Lake Solano. Daniel got me into Lake Solano paddleboarding a couple of years ago, and it was so great I ended up buying my own paddleboards! The scouts that I work with love paddleboarding too and so we have taken them on scout camps and had a blast with them. So we convinced our church leadership to change the destination of Father's and Son's camp this year to Lake Solano - we found a great group campsite with a private dock and we had an absolute blast. Of course, Daniel and I and our boys were the very last to leave camp late Saturday afternoon. We just couldn't get out of the water and quit having fun. Why rush away from such a good time?
