Oakland Temple Trip / Fenton's / Tilden Park

On Monday of the Bingham's visit, the first thing we did was went to the Oakland Temple.  It was Braden's first visit to do baptisms for the dead, which was a really awesome experience.  Ryan, Shayla, and Kynlee also participated while Janae and the younger kids spent time in the visitor's center.  Afterwards we toured around the temple grounds and Janae and I took pictures.  The 2 temple pics here are ones I took.

The younger kids (Jace in particular) got a big kick out of watching a toy Woody from Toy Story float down the stream on the temple grounds.  That lasted until a temple worker asked them to stop.  :)  The Oakland Temple will always hold a special place for us - it has been our temple for the 4 1/2 years we have lived here, and the first temple Braden got to do baptisms in.

After the temple we went to Fenton's Ice Cream in Oakland.  If you don't happen to know, the Disney/Pixar movie "Up" features Fenton's Ice Cream at the very end of the movie.  It's a famous ice cream parlor so we had to take the Bingham's to experience Fenton's.  When we got there, as usual, there was no parking available.  I stopped on the side of the street and let Anissa out so she could go check to see how long it would be to get a table for our big group.  While she was checking, the lady who lived in the house I stopped in front of came out and lectured me for blocking her driveway.  She even threatened to call the police....I think I can think of much better things that the police in Oakland have to do.

We did find some parking and didn't have to wait long for our tables.  We had sandwiches, burgers, fries, and of course, ICE CREAM.  Aunt Janae challenged Dallin to lick the ice cream platter clean at the end, and Dallin (of course) was up for the challenge.  We all rolled out of there with full bellies!

After Fenton's we wrapped up the day with a trip to Tilden Park in Berkeley.  We played football, flew a kite, and walked by the lake and saw a few crazy people swimming in it (waaaaaay too cold for that!)  Good times!
