Rediscovering the Great Outdoors

We discovered shortly after moving in that there is a trail going up the hills near our home that makes for a great hike. So today we decided to take a break from unpacking, and ventured out with the kids to discover our surroundings.
So I strapped Derek to my back, and off we went for what turned out to be over a 2 hour hike. We haven't been hiking like this in years. And the best part is that even though I broke a slight sweat, it evaporated immediately! Ahh...this weather is really something. Here are some more pictures from our trek. We discovered at the end of the trail a lake...Green Valley Lake is what it is called. Looks like a great place to hike to on a spring or summer afternoon for a picnic with the family. We are very excited to do this all over again another day. On the way back the kids all discovered the joy of "sliding" down the steep parts of the trail on their behinds...nice idea kids! Such smart thinkers!

Is this all within walking distance of your house or did you drive to the trail head? It is beautiful! I can't wait to see it for myself.
